Why Choose Us for Homeschool Classes?

1. Classes designed especially for homeschoolers will help students build confidence in their music skills while preparing
for performances in December and May. Classes are held in the early afternoon hours for convenient scheduling for
homeschooling families!

2.  Our instructors are carefully chosen and both have over 30 years of experience. They are not only accomplished
musicians, but skilled teachers who love working with children and teens.

3.  Our goal is to help each student progress at their own pace, within their own talents and skills.

4. We seek to support and encourage families and the community, by offering quality music experiences in an excellent,
moral environment. We are owned and operated by a homeschooling family, who understands the importance of education,
family, and the needs of other homeschooling families.

5. A proven track record of excellence.
Visit our testimonial page to see what our students are saying.  Our school has a proven track record of offering quality music
classes, year round.  Our full time mission is teaching music!

Instead of waiting in a music retail store showroom, our clients enjoy a spacious, professional waiting room with comfortable
chairs, kids toys, Wi-Fi, magazines and vending machines. We also provide observation windows on every door so that you can
watch your child's class while you wait.
Or, if you prefer, you can sit in on the class any time you like.

6. Free, all inclusive performances
Every May and December, our students are able to performing in our Signature Showcases. Parents never have to pay
admission or any related fees for these performances.

7. Family Centered! We offer optional parental participation to encourage doing music as a family! Parents can rehearse with
our homeschool band  class the last few weeks before the performance and perform at the Showcase for a unique multi-aged,
family experience!

7. Professional office staff to serve you.
Many music studio desks are staffed by the teacher, or more commonly, an answering machine. We have an office manager
who is available at the front desk to assist our clients.

Schedule: Our instructor, Mrs. Joan Wikstrom, will assess the band's needs and schedule all group lessons from 9am to 11am
and then from 12pm-2pm. Students will be monitored by a parent volunteer and may work on homework, read quietly, or reserve
one of our studios to practice their band instrument or guitar or piano in our private studios! Students may leave after they have
attended both their group lesson and the big band rehearsal. The big band rehearsal is from 11:15-noon. Please bring a music
stand from home. Music is provided.

Location: Our Rogers Homeschool Band is located at Signature School of Music (20998 134th Ave, Suite 109) and is
conveniently near local shopping (Cub, Target, Kohls) and restaurants (Caribou, McDonalds, Denny's, Burger King)! Our
Golden Valley Group meets at Calvary Lutheran Church: 7520 Golden Valley Rd., Golden Valley, MN.

Can I drop off my student?  Yes! Each parent will be asked to volunteer throughout the semester to monitor students in the
waiting area, but most moms choose to drop of their student for the few hours that their student is in lessons and classes. A
parent liasion will be chosen for each location, to coordinate volunteer hours.

All Levels of Experience Welcome! Our program starts at 4th grade. You choose your instrument, no experience or previous
lessons needed! We take students at ALL levels!

Older Students Options:
If a student has had several years of lessons, they main gain approval from the Instructor to only attend Big Band Rehearsal
from 11:15 am to noon. They must have mastered the basics and acquired a solid foundation of music. COST: $30 per month.

Honor Band:  In January, we will have Honor Band auditions (recommended for grades 6th+), to challenge older students and
passing scales and completing a theory exam. This is a high honor and many students enjoy working toward the challenge!
COST:$20 extra per month. Includes additional rehearsals.

Concerts: Our concerts are fun, creative, and multi-aged! We often have a theme and our families love the creativity! (See our
pictures for "playing" the phone books, kazoos, wearing fun hats, etc!)  Parents are encouraged to dust off their instrument and
perform with their children! This lends itself to the "One-room Schoolhouse" approach of learning. Advanced students pull up
the overall level of the band and give a great example to younger students! Various ensembles or small groups will be featured,
in addition to our big band performance! Concert attire consists of white shirts and black pants.

Motivation: Our instructor is famous for her encouraging and motivating approach to learning music! She challenges students
with goals and prizes. Grades are given each semester, as well as trophies for accumulating 100 hours of practice! Weekly and
semester prizes are awarded, to keep students engaged!

Instruments: Most students purchase their instruments used. Maybe you already have one at home! Instrument rental
programs are also available around the Twin Cities.
