Assuring Success
in Lessons
Successful, satisfying piano study is dependent upon correct and consistent practice
habits. In order for students, parents, and the teacher to experience success, the following are our recommendations:
- Assess your schedule and ensure that your child has time every day to dedicate to practicing.
- Provide a practice setting free from distraction (siblings, TV, computer, etc.)
- Parents, please check on your child’s practice progress during the week.
- Stay in communication with the music teacher and administrator with any questions or concerns. Make contact with the teacher or
administrator at the onset of a problem to avoid greater problems later.
- Make sure each student brings all of the correct music and materials to the lessons in a music case or canvas bag.
- Check the Piano Pages (assignment book) regularly for communication from the teacher and help the student follow the directions
for practice.
- Make sure the student finishes all written assignments and is prepared for each lesson.
- Arrive on time for all lessons.
- Thoroughly read the SSM newsletter each month for important news and updates.
- Believe in your child! With encouragement from home and from the piano teacher, we will build the musicians of the future!
